New Years Eve 1920’s Style

What better way to ring in the New Year than with a themed party! The 1920’s are one of the most iconic eras in history. This was the first decade to have a nickname: “Roaring 20s” or “Jazz Age.” It was a decade of prosperity! And how can you top a party about prohibition, gambling and flappers!

Sticking To The Theme

Once a theme has been determined for your party it is very important for all decorations to coordinate with that theme. When you think of the Roaring 20’s you think Great Gatsby, art deco, glamor and pearls! Coming up with a color scheme for this era was straight forward to say the least! Black, gold and white!

Once my color scheme was determined I ordered specialty balloons to coordinate! In the picture below on the left I have a champagne balloon. Who wouldn’t want to take a picture with that? I made sure not to attach it to my garland so it can be moved as needed. In the center photo I have 5″ balloon clusters to fill in the gaps and add texture. In addition, the “Happy New Year” balloons were a must. These are the correct color and match the 20’s theme perfectly!

Finishing Touches

The last photo on the right shows a confetti balloon. These clear balloons are another perfect option to add a different type of look to your garland. The confetti inside it black, gold and silver. So often with these balloons all the confetti falls to the bottom and you don’t get to see it when its been attach to the garland. A trick I’ve learned is to rub the outside of the balloon with a dryer sheet to create static, that way the confetti will stick to the outside of the balloon!

I designed this garland similarly to others in the past. I used a garland strip to attach my balloons and made sure to blow up my balloons to different sizes to add dimension. Trying to pick which color to attach next is always a hard decision but sometimes having a pattern helps! For this garland I mostly stuck to one of each color in a row. Or if you want more black than the other two colors, add a black in every other balloon. So your pattern can be black, white, black, gold.

Balloons make a great focal point! They are the perfect backdrop to any event. Along with this garland I created some more decorations to fit the theme! The picture to the right really adds to the speakeasy ambiance.

We look forward to 2022 but keep us in mind next year to celebrate 2023. The Roaring 20’s will still be going strong!
